Privacy Policy
Famplify is a family organizer: a shared calendar, to-dos, lists, meals, photos and more for one household, with an assistant called Zoey. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. Famplify is operated by Famplify, a business registered in Ontario, Canada ("we", "us").
The short version: your family's information is used to run Famplify for your family. We don't sell it, we don't show ads, and only the people in your family can see what's in your family space.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and password. Passwords are stored by our sign-in provider in hashed form; we never see them.
- Profile details: your name, your relationship in the family (for example "Dad"), the color shown with your name, and your birthday if you add it.
- What your family adds: events, to-dos and checklists, lists, meal plans and recipes, photos and albums ("Moments"), birthdays and anniversaries ("Big Days"), gift ideas and wishlists, family facts (which can include allergies, medications, sizes, schools and contacts) and files such as forms and schedules. Profiles that a parent creates for a child are included.
- Zoey: what you type or say to Zoey, her replies, and a record of the changes she makes so they can be undone.
- Phone calendars, if you connect them: the times you're busy, and the titles of events from calendars you choose to share in full. If you turn on adding family events to your phone, we write them to a calendar on your phone; they aren't sent anywhere else.
- Technical information: basic logs our providers keep to run and secure the service, such as when a request was made and whether it worked.
Reminders and your morning brief are scheduled on your own phone. If you speak to Zoey, your phone turns your speech into text before it's sent.
How we use it
- To run Famplify: show your family's plans to your family, send sign-in codes, schedule reminders and keep everyone in sync.
- To let Zoey answer and draft changes. When you ask Zoey something, the relevant parts of your family's information are sent with your request so she can answer accurately.
- To keep the service secure and working, and to respond when you contact us.
We don't sell your information, use it for advertising, or build marketing profiles from it.
Who can see your information
- Your family: what you add to your family space is visible to the members of your family. Gift ideas are hidden from the person they're for, and who claimed a wishlist item is hidden from the wishlist's owner. Events marked for only the people on them are visible only to those people.
- Our service providers, who process information on our behalf to run Famplify:
- Supabase: our database, sign-in and file storage (hosted in the United States).
- Anthropic: the AI model behind Zoey and the reading of files you ask Zoey to read. Anthropic processes these requests to produce Zoey's reply and does not use them to train its models.
- Resend: sends emails such as sign-in codes.
- Cloudflare: hosts this website.
- Apple and Google: deliver the app and, later, notifications and subscriptions.
- When required by law, or to protect the safety of people or the service.
Because our providers operate outside Canada, your information may be stored and processed in the United States and other countries, where it may be accessible to authorities under those countries' laws.
Children
Famplify is set up by a parent or guardian for their family. Profiles for children are created and managed by a parent. A child should only have their own Famplify login with a parent's or guardian's permission. If you believe a child has given us information without that permission, contact us and we'll delete it.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete something, it's removed from your family space. When you delete your account, we delete your personal information and the content only you could see within 30 days, except where we must keep something by law. Content you added to a shared family space stays with that family unless the family is deleted. Short-lived backups and logs kept by our providers are deleted on their normal schedules.
Your choices and rights
- You can view and change your information in the app at any time.
- You can turn off connected calendars, reminders, and Zoey's use of family facts in Settings.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account by emailing privacy@famplify.co. Deleting your account from inside the app is coming soon.
- You can withdraw your consent at any time, though some features may stop working without the information they need.
If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please contact us first. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit. Access is limited by family: the database only returns a family's information to that family's members. Photos and files are stored privately and shown through short-lived links. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach puts it at real risk.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. For important changes, we'll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
